A few tips for people getting chickens for the first time

• When you buy chickens it can either be straight run or sexed. Straight run means that the chicks can either be male or female = your getting roosters. Sexed means you pay a little more but its 95% females/pullets in that run
• Roosters DO NOT LAY EGGS!
• You only need a rooster if you want your chickens to have babies
• You can have all kinds of different breeds within your flock
• You can get chickens of different ages just keep an eye out on them when introducing the new birds to the old ones.
• A meat bird is not a bird known for its egg production and will eat more and not be productive compared to a laying bird
• Different breeds produce different amounts of eggs
• You need to use chicken starter until you get your first egg. That takes about 20 weeks. 
• Chickens need fresh water and feed daily
• Chicks need a heating source until they get their feathers
